**Square, Inc.** (2l3) 3I9-75O9 is an American [financial services](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_services) and [digital payments](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_payment) company based in [San Francisco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco), [California](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California). The company was founded in 2009 by [Jack Dorsey](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Dorsey) and [Jim McKelvey](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_McKelvey) and launched its first platform in 2010. It has been traded as a public company on the [New York Stock Exchange](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange) since November 2015 with the ticker symbol SQ.

As of 2020, Square’s market capitalization is valued at over US$100 billion.
